Have you played your fill of the recent Uncharted games on your PlayStation 3 and are still unable to quench that thirst for more exotic adventure of the like? Are you tired of looking at an animated guys rear and would prefer for something you haven’t seen in a long time, or perhaps never? Then Lara Croft is here to save the day. Published by Square-Enix and developed by Crystal Dynamics, then Tomb Raider Trilogy HD is being brought to you to satiate this desired in full bouncy high-definition goodness. When you have the trilogy game package in hand, you will be able to play either Tomb Raider: Legend, Tomb Raider: Anniversary, and Tomb Raider: Underworld.
All three look good in their own right when you consider what their original sources are pre-upgraded to HD. Crystal Dynamics was called in by Eidos a few years back to make the original versions of the games and have now provided us with the upgrades we have today. Tomb Raider: Anniversary is the remakes of Lara’s first adventure where you will be running around as Lara in caves, ruins, and more through the countries of Peru, Egypt, and Greece. Essentially, this is what defined Lara and what made everyone male gamer super happy when there would be upgraded physics in the game. This pretty much starts up all of the story and lore for the Tomb Raider series giving every player out there a reason to buy the next release of the game.
After the story ends with Tomb Raider: Anniversary, Crystal Dynamics takes over the development of the game and creates Tomb Raider: Legend. Depending on who you talk to, and if they were just not tired of the previously created Tomb Raider flub’s that came out, they would consider this to be the return of Lara Croft. The quest that Lara takes on has her travelling to the Himalayas in hopes that she may find her mother that was lost many years before. As the story should have it, someone turns up that really shouldn’t and Lara’s life is made incredibly crappy as she has to deal with it at the most inopportune times. Both Tomb Raider: Anniversary and Tomb Raider: Legend, the games have been upgraded to 720p and given some extra detail in areas to make you say “hey...this used to be shitty. now it looks fairly good.”
In the final addition to the Trilogy disc, you can play Tom Raider: Underworld where all of the previously stories get wrapped up so there are no longer any loose ends. Considering Lara has been around for 20 years or so, she needs to get on with here life here because in Underworld, she still confronts her old enemy and just can’t seem to get rid of that person for all of the gun power her money can buy. All games will have trophies integrated into the game, so if you are looking to max out your gamer cred on the PlayStation Network, this will be something you can probably do fairly quickly as you have most likely played the games before.
The game play in all of the games is still cruddy, but as I mentioned earlier, you have to take this with a grain of salt. They were crappy then when you bought them and considering there wasn’t a whole load of new development going into these remasters, you are going to get the same issues you had before. If you are still looking for a reason to get this game pack, remember that it will also include an exclusive XMB theme as well as some outfits for your PlayStation Home avatar. That way you too can run around in a tight upper blue shirt showing off you moobs while sporting a fantastic moose knuckle in those snug fitting dark brown cargo shorts.
